Laugh might bring a love

She was really a peaceful soul. She never actually got angry on anything. She knew how to control her emotions. She was a master in patience. She would not even use a harsh phrase against anyone. Not even for defense.

She was calm and settled, but so silent in a bizarre way. She rarely had any conversations with her husband. He would either be on call, or busy with TV, and other works. The occasional conversations that would happen between them were of the preferences and important updates.

Though they did not interact with each other, everything in their life seemed so synchronous. Things were so smooth and without any differences. "What do you want for dinner", she asked. "Cut my head and cook it", he shouted.

She was silent and waiting for his anger to reduce. He cooled down after a moment and walked towards the kitchen. In a way to explain what she had done wrong, he said, "Don't you even know what I like? Why do you expect me to tell this everyday? I should write a book about me and make you read it. Maybe then there won't be this problem", he said.

She was confused and clueless about how she should respond to it. He wanted to make her comfortable. So, he thought of making a joke, because he thought she would fall in love, if he made her laugh.

He thought of showing off that he had a great sense of humor. After thinking for a while and couldn't get anything funny, he looked at her. She was still calm and cleaning up the mess as if she was born to do only that work.

He sort of gained a sense of pride. For a moment he wanted to prove that he was supernaturally intellectual, and he still married her, who knew nothing more than household works. He thought that maybe if he could make an intellectual comedy, she would be impressed and happy.

As he was thinking to frame the intellectual joke, he started to smile. There was a sign of excitement on his face. He asked her to come near him. Then he said, "You know something? If I kill your parents, I wouldn't go to jail". She could not believe that such words would come from his mouth. To confirm what she had heard, she asked, "what".

He couldn't control his laugh anymore. He burst out laughing and continued, "because it is a murder only if their bodies are found. I would hide them secretly and file an FIR that they are missing". He continued laughing out loud.

She paused for a moment without knowing how to respond to him. She couldn't even understand his intent in attempting to make such a statement. He saw that she did not react. So, he said, "I know you won't understand this joke. Go back to work". He laughed and laughed as she moved back to her work.

You look exactly like your mother

The next morning when he woke up, she was already brisk and cleaning the room. She had turned off the fan and cleaning the room for a long time that she was sweating out badly. Her face was dirty due to the dirt.

As she found him waking up from the bed, she went near her and said, "Wait a moment! I am cleaning the other room. Please stay here till then". He gave a disgusting look on seeing her that way. It felt that he had been betrayed by her parents that she was a beautiful woman. "It is all makeup and scent. I should have married a scent bottle instead", he murmured to himself, because he didn't wanna hurt her by saying it loud.

As he tried to wake up from the bed, he slipped a bit. She tried to catch hold of him, but he slipped from her hands also, and fell back on the bed. He looked at her up and down. He turned his face off her. He noticed that when she tried to hold him, the sweat and dirt from her hands had stuck with his arms. He wiped that with the bed sheet and swiftly moved towards the bathroom.

She could not do anything, but to stay calm. She seemed to have disturbed. "Towel" his sound reached her ears. She went to the other wash basin, washed her hands and brought his towel. He seized it from her and closed the bathroom door.

She went back to clean the room. Once, she had finished her work, she freshened up and came back. He was waiting for breakfast by then. She warmed the food, which she had prepared earlier and served him.

After eating, his mood had calmed down. There was a bit of smile on the edge of his lips. She looked at her face and realized that she was not ugly as he thought she was. As he was staring at her face for a long time, she asked him if he had wanted to say anything.

"Nothing", he said and she turned away. "You just look like your mother", he said. She couldn't believe her ears. She realized for the first time in her life that her husband had some feelings for her. As she smiled, her eyes were filled with tears of joy. It was the first time, she heard something of that sort from him.

She turned towards him, and asked, "Do you really mean it". "Yes, not just look. You even behave like your mother" he answered. Her happiness knew no bound. All the sufferings and pain, she had suffered flew off in that one moment. She fell in love him. He was wrong when he thought that she would fall in love when she would laugh. Instead it was the tears that brought out her love for him.

After a small pause, he turned towards her again, and continued, "Look at you. Fat and dumb, just like your mother. And those wrinkles on your forehead. Were you born old? You both look to be of the same age. No sense of humor, foolish enough to not understand how much I had sacrificed to have you as my wife. You are blessed that you are living such a luxurious life. Without makeup and scent, I cannot really come near you. I think this also has inherited from your mother. Don't know how your father is even managing with her. She is as dumb as you, or maybe even dumber. I hate my life".

She couldn't believe that it was happening. She was frozen to a stone. Her senses failed, her heart beat increased heavily. Her peace was totally broken. Tears started to flood from her eyes. That was the breaking point of her. She felt dead by his words. She became a body without soul. She fell down as she couldn't breath.

When she woke up, he was spilling water on her. "Thank God! You didn't die here. Otherwise who would go to police station, court, jail etc. You could not even take life tips and suggestions to be a better person. I don't know how you're gonna survive in this world. Now get the bed ready. I don't have time to advice you all the time", he said and pulled her up.

You don't have to cook dear

The tired husband returned from office. Straightaway he told his wife and said, "You don't have to cook tonight".

He freshened up and went out. He finally returned home after four hours. He didn't notice his wife waiting for him, and went to sleep.

She woke him up and asked, "Where is the food". "It was at this hotel. We had a party too", he said and went back to sleep.

Then, she went back to kitchen with tears in her eyes. All her expectations about arranged marriage was broken on a single moment. Her hopes for a new life started to break like glass pieces in her world.

When she turned on the knob of gas, she heard a calling bell. She was so annoyed to receive a guest at midnight. Yet, she walked towards the door.

The took the towel and wiped out all the tears before opening the door. She saw a man dressed in orange T-shirt and cap. She turned on the outside light, and recognised that the guy was from Swiggy.

"Madam! Are you Kahul Raushik", he asked. She realised that the delivery was for the person in the opposite house. Her final hopes were also broken. She showed the direction to Kahul's house, and closed the door.

She scrambled, wept out for minutes. She almost lost her consciousness thinking about how hopeless her life had become. There was no love, no surprises, no care, no fun, no happiness and nothing positive. She was nothing more than a serving machine to her husband.

She finally came back to her consciousness when she heard her husband's voice. "Why are the lights on", he shouted. She took a deep breath and stood up. She had to bear with all hopelessness in life, but still couldn't resist to serve her husband.

When she turned towards the kitchen, the power went off. She screamed in fear. Her husband threw himself from the bed in shock and walked towards her.

"What happened", he asked. "It's dark and I'm afraid", she said. "You fool! This is India. We have power cuts all the time. You have to adjust with it", he said.

"Ok. Maybe next time I'll do as you say. This time, can you light the candle for me", she asked him. "As if there's a choice. I have to do all works. I have to work at office, and come back to work here. Meanwhile, you enjoy your life on my salary", he said and asked, "where's the candle".

"It's in the kitchen. There'll be cockroaches. Be careful", she said in a mild tone.

"Ya. You'll be afraid of everything. I've to talk with your parents tomorrow about you. They have failed to grow you as a good girl", he said and walked towards the kitchen.

"My parents! Ok. As you say my dear. I'll apologise to everyone tomorrow", she said.

He found the candle and lit the match stick. His time slowed down substantially. He could see that the fire from match stick was growing continuously as if the room was completely filled with burning fuel.

Then boom! The time was insignificant to fill the entire room with LPG, but still it was enough to create a flash fire, which ripped off most of his skin.

"Freedom", she said as she turned on the main switch. The glow of fire had reduced due to the lighting. She watched him suffer with the burning. She played loud music on TV, and enjoyed his pain with the BGM.

"Tomorrow I'll definitely apologise", she said and laughed louder and louder.

Does Imran Khan know that terrorism is a crime?

PC: scroll.in thenews.com.pk

During the release of his autobiography in 1994, Imran Khan shared his experience of how he had involved in occasionally tampering the ball and lifting the seam to get the ball to swing. It was so unfortunate that so many modern cricketers get banned for similar acts while an open admission of such a thing went unnoticed by the ICC Council.

Or perhaps that Imran Khan and the bowlers of his era had not known that ball tampering was against ICC Code of Conduct. He could have possibly realized later in his life and got the courage to admit it before the media. A great gesture of magnanimity!! Or is it not?

That was really not magnanimous for he had been not an average player, but a champion in the sport winning World Cup for his team. What the opponents would have lost because of his illegal act could not be compensated just by admitting his mistake.

Talking about the second innings in his life, the political innings, today he seem to be defending the terrorists in his own region. His gesture towards India in releasing India's Wing Commander might create an impression that Imran Khan wants a peaceful relationship between the countries, but it is not so.

If peace was the intention, he should have acted to put the terrorists behind the bar, when JeM claimed over the Pulwama attack. He was silent. At least he should have responded based on the admission by the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif that ISI allowed LeT to attack Mumbai. He was silent. Even after the admission by the former President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf that his Intel was using JeM to carry out activities across the border, Imran Khan has not responded.

Perhaps, he wants to make peace with terrorists or he might just follow the quote that "forgiving is the biggest punishment that can be given to a culprit".

Comparing his response to terrorism with his experiences in cricket, it looks like he might think today that terrorism is not aa crime similar to how he did not know that ball tampering was illegal in the past. He might even be thinking that all countries have the right to use terrorism whenever military cannot take open actions.

There could be a second autobiography, called "A Peaceful Deal", where he might show his magnanimity yet again by revealing his peaceful relationships with terrorists.

Ghosts give us evidence on the existence of Reality Stone

Ghosts, what are they? Do they even exist? How would we protect ourselves from them? Can we go to places of worship to chase them out? Can we place religious symbols in our living place? Can we organise religious gatherings with priests to chase of ghosts using prayers?

God! Why are we even haunted by them???

Haunting makes us question reality not just because haunting plays with our emotions and deludes our consciousness, but that the reason for haunting makes least sense in reality.

Sometimes it even gives enough evidence to believe in fantasy such as the reality stone from Avengers series. Have we all been deluded by reality stone that we get haunted by non-existing problems than the actual existing problems in reality.

Taking a broader view raises the question of why ghosts haunt us. Ghosts haunt us because we have a faith about ghosts that their powers are beyond humanly strength and they could torture and destroy us completely.

More than the capabilities about ghosts, now focus turns towards whether or not these inhuman powers exist. Do we really have hopeless problems in human life? Do those problem result in torturous consequences? Can they be fatal? Can they fatality go beyond a mere few? Will it carry on for generations?

The unacceptable truth about reality is that it gives us an answer of yes to all the previous questions. What is strange is that ghosts have never been the reason for all those consequences. Instead it had always been humans.

Child labor, deforestation, rapes, child infanticide, women trafficking, genocide, wars, pollution, corruption, oil spills, poverty and in many other ways we are being tortured and murdered for generations. But none of that does haunt us. We don't spend our precious time in fighting against the real problems. Instead we have faith, we spend millions, we exploit our time, and educate our children in the fight against nonexistent problems.

We know our monsters. We even know how to kill them. But, we create delusional faith on what our conscience would call as stupidity, and focus all our efforts into fighting that stupid monster.

Here's where we should ask the question again, “Are we seriously affected by reality distortion”.

The journey of a bloodless thing

What should I do? Where should I start? Can I say it's all because of love? Or is it because I'm superstitious? Could there be a religious influence in it? May be a disconnection from the earthly happiness. Perhaps the search for a better me.

Whatever would that be. All I could say now is that, “Yes. I've done it”, because this is possibly the second only achievement in my life. More than everything I've done it without anyone's aid.

It all began when I was watching the TV show Neeya Naana, which was featuring people, who were different in one or other way versus the conventional people. There was a girl with A. R. Rahman tattoo on her hand, who had a weird hairstyle. She was confident. She wanted to leave a message saying, “My happy is weird because, I donated my hair to Cancer institute. Something is not bad just because it's different. I'm the living example for that”.

It kind of moved me. I had recently got a comment from my friends that I was a boy with long hair. My hair was the longest among the boys group, in which I belonged though it was just touching my shirt's collar behind my neck.

So, I got this weird idea to donate my hair then. When I checked online, an NGO from Hyderabad laid down promos stating that they were willing to take hair donations, if the hair was at least 8 inches long.

That day, I didn't have the patience to grow the extra three inches that were required for donation. So, I had just cut it short as summer was approaching.

Days passed, months passed, seasons passed. At one point of time I had friendship, love, care, attention etc and all of a sudden betrayals and failures had started to pile up. Suddenly the life was surrounded by demotivation and extreme idleness.

I started to feel an urge to prove myself to the world, though it looks completely unnecessary today. I wanted to show that I could do things. I wanted to prove that I was a better human, or at least a kind human. There had been many friends in my life, who were attracted by me intellect and innocence. Suddenly there were a few people, who had believed that I was a kind human. I wanted to prove their point too.

So, gradually the conviction to take up a serious task had acquired my mind. I needed a supernatural support to take up such a task. I had then visited Tiruchendur Temple to gain the Lord's support by donating all the hair that I had to him. I made a promise to myself, to not seek anything from the Lord in return for my offering. And so, began the journey of hair.

That was the first time I had shaved my hair. The whole family and friends were surprised in seeing me. Also, there was a trust in their eyes. They kind of believed that I was capable taking the right decisions. They had still not known that I wouldn't visit a day saloon for the next two years. They didn't discover my thought for a few months from then.

Clean shave was really a great feeling. No stress about hair fall, no need for combing, and no many other stressful and time consuming works. Also, I had my dream hairstyle, Professor X from the X-Men.

As soon as my hair started to grow, I got transferred to Pune. The hot and shining summer was challenging, but the extra long shifts at office gave me enough comfort to grow the hair. I had a new hairstyle every two weeks.

When the hair grew more than average men, I was a source of attraction at my workplace. People started to notice me. I was no more an incognito human. It was the first time in my life that I was getting unusual attention everywhere. It also gave a lot of people an opportunity for a small talk, and hence my friend circle widened for the first time.

For a reserved and invisible person, it was really giving a high that everyday at the office, or at the dining room, or on the road, some new person, would notice and compliment me. Most of the times, I enjoyed it though it affected my private space a lot.

Once the hair touched my chin, hair had started to mess up with my life. It needed a lot of maintenance. I had learn, understand and choose a combination in between shampoo, conditioner, serum, gel, and oil in order to keep my hair in the right shape.

At one side, I was the coolest person due to the long hair. At the other side, I was messing up with my life completely. Exercise, study, hobbies, sleep patterns, food habits, and many more activities were modified keep my head cool and peaceful. For a cool hair style, we need a cool sacrifice. So, I was motivated enough to carry the hair as it was just 10 months since I had started to grow hair.

The fun side was exciting that the pain of maintenance was not even a problem to me during that phase.

And then the challenge. I fell sick of jaundice. It took me a week to diagnose the disease and by then, I had lost my appetite and had a severe nausea. After consulting with the doctor, I transported myself to Chennai to further continue the treatment.

The poor thing took the complete blame. A complete year of hard work started shatter in a matter of days. Relatives, neighbors and well-wishers had advised me he cut off my hair. I was almost convinced that hair was the reason behind all my sufferings, but I was still hoping that I could continue to carry it. It had started to stress me a lot.

Demotivation, and a sense of failure had already acquired my mind. I knew that if I had given up then, I would never have the force to fulfill the dream ever in life. So, I had let the doctor to decide whether I could continue to have my hair.

The doctor took no time to respond, “Why not? But wash it with cold water everyday and apply oil regularly. If you leave it like this, your body would start to heat”.

I was jumping to the sky when I head that. During the one month of disease, I had wanted to give up on my hair more than a hundred times. There was only one motivation that was pushing me. I knew that if I could do it, in the future when there would be demotivation, I could say to myself, “You had taken up a promise. You had suffered a deadly disease, but you had carried the promise. You had survived and recovered to be truthful to the promise. You could do anything in the universe”.

When I had recovered from the disease, I was super excited once again. I was totally enjoying the hair lying on my cheeks, the long wavy smooth hair, it was lovely.

By the time returned to Bangalore, the city had gone hotter than ever before. Sweat and dust made the path to success more challenging. I had wanted to give up on the hair ASAP. I had contacted many NGOs and most of them required a hair with a minimum length of 15 inches. When I had measured my hair in the month of January, it was just 8 to 10 inches long.

With increased hairfall, the hair growth had become slow. I used the time to research on the NGOs that were ready to take hair of length around 12 inches. It was in April that I had found that the Cancer institute at Adyar would take up hair directly.

And to my excitement they just for a length of 10 inches. By April, my average hair length was 11 inches. But before cutting down the hair, I had wanted to confirm with the oncology department at Cancer institute the details and procedure.

I was shocked to hear that Cancer institute had kept the hair donation on hold for the next four months. I felt like plugging my hair one by one and throwing it in the dustbin. Maintenance of hair was stressing me so badly. Thankfully I was raining enough to hold my conviction for a few more months.

To add more pain, I suddenly became a symbol of kindness among my well-wishers. Everyone pitied on me as if I was sacrificing my life for a cause. Showers of sympathy made me run away from people to find refuge in solitude.

I was like a sacrificial Yogi to them, which irritated me even more. I was hiding from the anger of the people, who had wanted my hair to be cut and the sympathy of the people, who liked at me like Jesus.

I had to grow arrogance to escape from everyone and establish my promise. The children started to run away from me. Some had even cried due to fear on seeing me. In my own eyes, I looked like Jesus normally, like Lord Shiva when Vibhuthi was applied, and many other divine characters. I tried Winter Soldier and Loki styles. Nothing really took off the fear from the watcher's eyes. I was a walking ghost as commented by many.

Heat of the summer was killing me from outside. The guilt of consuming more water to take bath while people were suffering from water crisis was burning me from inside.

Finally, I called up the Cancer institute yet again during August and they had agreed to take up the donation in the first week of September.

I had traveled all the way to Cancer institute to deposit the neatly packed hair on an open table. I had written down the details about me for further help.

Peace.

Low water consumption, no hair cosmetics, no combing for at least a month, no hairfall, and what more do we need in life? A complete peace.

During the days of sufferings, I wanted to share about this to spread an awareness, but the sympathy shower seriously changed my mindset.

Finally, after two months there was a call from the Cancer institute. They thanked me for what I had done. That one call for two minutes was a proof that I had done something worthy out of the sufferings in the two years.

Now I can proudly say, “I HAD DONE IT”.

Does ambidexterity really improve brain activity?

It has been an general opinion among people that ambidexterity is associated with increased brain activity. This assumption is based on the fact that the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left hand and vice versa.

Though the fact about brain activity, and parts of brain controlling different body functionalities is true, ambidexterity doesn't really help to improve brain activity. Moreover, based on a few studies that are conducted with right handers, left handers and ambidextrous people, the ambidextrous people had scored less in memory and logical reasoning.

So, why is activating different parts of brain doesn't help in improving brain activity? The reason being the confusion between multihandedness and ambidexterity. A multi handed person, say Sachin Tendulkar, who writes with left hand, and plays cricket with right hand, has different functionalities of brain activating from different hemispheres of brain. This would still maintain their brain hemispheres to be asymmetric.

At the same time, for an ambidextrous person, the same functionalities would be activated by both hemispheres, which would result in mirroring of brain activity. This would lead to confusions, while deciding which hand is better suited for a particular task.

More than that, it also affects the critical decision making and logical reasoning power of the brain due to mirroring effect. Hence, ambidexterity is considered to be more of an disadvantage.

Though there hasn't yet been any scientific or statistical proof for ambidexterity to improve or deteriorate the brain functionality, from evolutionary behavior, it can be observed that ambidexterity is the least favored. Hence, it wouldn't be a bad conclusion to state that ambidexterity doesn't improve the functionality of brain.
